Behavioral Health Service
The behavioral health services at Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center and Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) provide consultation, evaluation, and treatment for a variety of issues that can impact emotional well-being. The department consists of psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers who are available at the Medical Center and at the CBOCs. We also offer teleconferencing on an as needed basis to increase access to providers. We offer individual and group therapy services as well as psychological/neuropsychological assessment and psychiatric medication management. Read more about our behavioral health program.

Former Prisoner of War (FPOW) Advocate Program
Since World War I, more than 142,000 Americans, including 85 women, have been captured and interned as POWs. In 1981, Congress passed Public Law 97-37 entitled "Former Prisoners of War Benefit Act." Former POWs can apply for compensation for their service-connected injuries, diseases, or illnesses. For more information on FPOW Advocate Program.
Healthcare for Homeless Veterans (HCHV) Program
The Oscar G. Johnson VAMC Healthcare for Homeless Veterans (HCHV) program staff are committed to ending homelessness by supporting Veterans in obtaining adequate safe shelter and housing by providing information and referral to appropriate community resources that will facilitate exit from homelessness and result in improved quality of life. Direct services provided include (but are not limited to) behavioral health assessment, substance abuse treatment, referral for medical services, and direct case management services. Military Sexual Trauma
The VA has services available to help men and women who have experienced Military Sexual Trauma (MST). The VA provides free, confidential counseling and treatment for mental and physical health conditions related to MST. Service connection or disability compensation is NOT required to receive free treatment for conditions resulting from MST. Veterans can get help or find more information by talking with their Primary Care Physician or contacting OGJVAMC's MST Coordinator, Julie Gendron, at 1-800-215-8262, extension 32531, or room 3170.
Minority Veteran Program
The Center for Minority Veterans is the Department of Veteran Affairs Model for interagency and intra-agency cooperation, to ensure all veterans receive equal service regardless of race, origin, religion or gender.
