Great; however, I wonder why we did not start by upgrading existing rails and routes first as commuter service lines between municipalities which would simultaneous provide more freight, potential, clearing inefficient truck traffic? Then, funding saved in trying to maintain and expand roads could be better applied to high speed trains that would fill the next gap to the extreme metropolitan centers, where major airports, wher the next most logical transit for long trips exists, while also better providing ridership for all modes. Note: All journeys start with the first step.
