It's great that our President addressed our nations need for infrastructure when other candidates tip toe around the issue.

We have an excerpt of the Presidents address on infrastructure here:

Looking forward to the Executive Order and I hope that highway projects are included in the streamlining effort!

Repairing our roads and existing infrastructure is important, but investing in brand-new high-speed rail will help ensure Americans can get where they need to go far into the future.

High speed rail is an expensive option, and it is unsurprising that there is hesitation in Washington to allocate the necessary funds on a long-term project when existing highways are falling into disrepair and presenting an immediate need. But high-speed railways (as many of our European and Asian counterparts have already realized) are far more energy efficient than automobiles, and we can never be energy-independent while the U.S. is still a car culture. It's time we started thinking about America's long-term needs and the environmental consequences of our actions.

All excellent points. Plus rebuilding comes with an additional benefit - it creates lots of good working class jobs that pay a living wage, and generally have good benefits.

1.3 million is it really?

As a member of an industry that lies in the convergence of both the automobile industry and the transportation sector. We are glad to hear that more emphasize will be placed on the long term health of the US transportation network. Only with a strong infrastructure will American freight haulers be able to stay competitive and offer the people the best rates for moving their goods.
