Dear Members and Friends,
As the year comes to an end, this is an opportunity for the Afghan-American Chamber of Commerce (AACC) to express its deepest appreciation and gratitude to all of its constituents in the business community here and in Afghanistan, to our respective colleague government officials and, last but not least, to those member companies providing both the support for AACC’s mission and for keeping our AACC rent paid and office lights on.
2012 has been a fascinating year for AACC and its members as we sought to play a role in the transition from donor dependence to economic independence. That’s a tall order but essential over the long term for Afghanistan to succeed.
Looking ahead to 2013, we will continue that effort through our assistance to individual businessmen and women, our sector-based Working Groups, and through those networking, educational and matchmaking events designed to promote a viable, sustainable, private sector in Afghanistan that is, at the same time, profitable for our members.
We sense a push by Afghanistan and its friends to integrate more fully with the regional economies and we are ready to do our part working with sister Chambers of Commerce in Afghanistan, Dubai and elsewhere in the region to make for an Afghanistan as regional hub for business and trade, distribution, transportation and logistics that turn Afghanistan’s geography and location into national and international strengths.
We believe the challenges to be great but the opportunities greater.
On behalf of the AACC community, we wish you a happy and joyous new year and look forward to working with you in a peaceful and productive 2013.
