Diplomats and Central Government Officials (A, G)

Description
A and G visas allow travel by central government officials for a purpose deemed by the U.S. as solely reserved for a central government (A) and travel on behalf of a U.S.-recognized international organization (G). Most eligible Indonesian applicants receive visas valid for multiple entries. Central government or international organization travelers may hold a visitor (B) visa, however if their intention is to carry out official central government or international organization duties, they must enter the U.S. with an A or G visa in hand.

Qualifications
A and G visa applicants must demonstrate that they qualify for a U.S. visa according to the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). Please understand that our determination of the purpose of your travel governs your visa classification under U.S. law. Holding a diplomatic or official passport does not automatically qualify the bearer for an A or G visa. If you do not clearly qualify for an A or G visa, we will inform you of any requirement to appear here for biometric collection, interview and payment of visa fees. There is no all inclusive list of qualifications, but successful applicants may be found eligible if we determine that:

• Their trip is consistent with U.S. law;
• They are central (not provincial, local or state owned enterprise or university officials) or international organization officials;
• They apply with a diplomatic note issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, foreign mission or U.S. recognized international organization;
• They will engage in bona fide central government or international organization duties; and
• They are not subject to exclusion.

How to apply
Members of the Central Government of Indonesia
Applicants for A or G visas, regardless of age, gender or nationality, must apply in the following manner and submit, by messenger to outside windows 2 or 3, at the new intake time from 10:00am-11:00am, Monday to Friday, but not Indonesian or American holidays, the following items:

• A diplomatic note explaining your position and purpose in going to the U.S.
• Passport of any type or travel document valid for 6 months beyond your U.S. stay.
• Fully completed DS-160 available online at How to apply for a Nonimmigrant Visa and printed confirmation page.
• Recent front view 5 cmx5 cm passport photo on white background, stapled to confirmation page in the lower right corner.
• Qualified applicants for A or G visas, and holders of diplomatic passports seeking any visa, are fee-exempt.
• Students or exchange visitors (F, M, J): I-20, I-20M or DS-2019, and SEVIS fee receipt, paid at www.fmjfee.com, and proof of funds to pay for study.
• Domestic helpers applying for A3 or G5 visas must make an appointment by calling the call center 001-803-0160 330, hours of operations 7:00am-7:00pm Monday through Friday, excluding US holidays and Indonesian holidays.  Such applicants must apply in person in the normal manner, see Domestic Employees and How to Apply for a U.S. Visa for details.
  Domestic helpers must first be registered in TOMIS, see Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act.

Visas for Members of the Foreign Diplomatic and Official Community, recognized by the U.S., assigned to Indonesia, who bear diplomatic and official passports, and their accompanying spouse and children. Each member of the foreign Diplomatic and Official community who seeks a visa, regardless of age, gender or nationality, must apply in the following manner and submit:

• By messenger (applicants for a diplomatic (A) or international organization (G) visa) to outside windows 2 or 3, at the new intake time from 10:00am-11:00am or
• Appear in person (applicants for any other visa type including visitor (B), and students or exchange visitor (F, M, J), regardless of type of passport) with an appointment after following the steps outlined on How to Apply for a U.S. Visa
• Applicants for A or G visas, and holders of diplomatic passports seeking any visa, are fee-exempt.
• A diplomatic note explaining your position and purpose of going to the U.S.
• Passport of any type or travel document valid for 6 months beyond your U.S. stay.
• Fully completed DS-160 online at https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/ and printed confirmation page.
• Recent front view 5 cmx5 cm passport photo on white background, stapled to confirmation page lower right corner.
• Students or exchange visitors (F, M, J): I-20, I-20M or DS-2019, and SEVIS fee receipt, paid at www.fmjfee.com, and proof of funds to pay for study.
• Domestic helpers applying for A3 or G5 visas must apply by appointment in person in the normal manner, see Domestic Employees and How to Apply for a U.S. Visa for details.
  Domestic helpers must first be registered in TOMIS, see http://travel.state.gov/visa/laws/telegrams/telegrams_4541.html.

Once the visa has been issued, it is available for pickup every workday from 2:00-3:30pm, generally after 3 business days.

Please understand that our determination of the purpose of your travel, not your position or passport type, governs your visa classification under U.S. law.
