The Smalley Foundation is committed to increasing safety and awareness for those who live, work and play near oil-and-gas equipment and pipelines. We do this by empowering the general public, training first responders and partnering with the industry.
Partnerships
The Smalley Foundation partners with energy companies and other stakeholders to create safety-awareness programs for residents living, working and playing near pipeline and oil-and-gas drilling operations.
We deliver pipeline safety-and-awareness education through partnerships with other non-profits, governmental and educational entities, trade associations and private industry.
Training
The Smalley Foundation believes safety & awareness education is an important and powerful tool that empowers first responders, youths, educators and communities to assess risks and make safe decisions.
We train first responders in rural areas to handle oil-and-gas drilling emergencies that require special knowledge and skills, including incident action plans and tactical response to threats.
Empowering
Empowering youth and young adults with the knowledge to make the right choices can even effect a cultural behavior change in their communities.
The Smalley Foundation and its energy industry partners empower entire communities by educating residents about living, working and playing safely around neighborhood pipeline and oil-and-gas operations.
Safety for Kids!
The Smalley Foundation received a grant from the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration to take its “Pipeline Safety and Awareness for Kids!” program to 15,000 elementary students in Webb County Texas.
Webb County Texas is the largest county in South Texas and is among the top South Texas counties with the most pipeline transmission miles.
Damage Prevention
The winter issue of the Damage Prevention Professional journal features an article about the Smalley Foundation titled, “School Pipeline Safety that is ALWAYS ON!”
The article describes how the Foundation empowers schools located near pipelines by partnering with industry.
