David KeimDavid Keim is responsible for external and internal communications, community relations, and protocol visits for Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Before joining ORNL in March 2012, Keim was director of Public and Governmental Affairs at the Y-12 National Security Complex, where he worked to improve awareness of Y-12 operations through increased media coverage, start-up of Y-12 social media sites, and publication of an annual Community Investment Report. Keim’s staff also coordinated dedication of the nation’s storehouse for weapons-grade uranium, the Highly Enriched Uranium Materials Facility, in March 2010.

Keim previously was an editor and reporter for the Knoxville (Tennessee) News Sentinel, where he served as the lead editor on county government coverage that won four national awards, launched the annual Book of Lists and monthly Greater Knoxville Business Journal, and represented the News Sentinel on national cable and local television news broadcasts.

Keim is a member of the board of Contact Helpline, the Leadership Knoxville class of 2006, and the University of Tennessee Chancellor’s Associates class of 2010. He earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the honors college at Ohio University.
