As of April 13, 2012, Nonimmigrant visa fees have changed as follows:

• Non-petition-based nonimmigrant visa (except E category): $160
• H, L, O, P, Q and R category nonimmigrant visa: $190
• E category nonimmigrant visa: $270
• K category nonimmigrant visa: $240

How to Apply

As of March 1, 2010, all non-immigrant visa applicants are required to use the DS160 application. We are no longer able to accept the DS-156.

Once you have completed the DS-160 and printed out the confirmation page, please make an appointment for your interview. Please apply early as there may be a wait of two months before the next available visa appointment.

Making more than one appointment in the web site may cause all appointments to be deleted without notice. Please consider carefully before booking an appointment.

Please note that each family member must have a separate appointment. 

For students and exchange visitors (F, J, or M visas), we expedite visa appointments.  Please email the consular section at NIVSanaa@state.gov for an appointment if you are a student or exchange visitor.  Also please remember to bring your I-20 or DS-2019, in addition to the confirmation page from the online visa application.

We recommend that all applicants apply at least two months before their date of travel. 

Requests for expedited appointments may be sent to NIVSanaa@state.gov.  These requests should include an explanation of the travel, the dates of travel, why an appointment is needed sooner than available online, and local contact information.

All applicants should be prepared to demonstrate that they overcome INA Section 214(b).
