U.S. goods exports to Norway in 2011 were $3.6 billion, up 17.2% ($534 million) from 2010, and up 135% from 2000.

The top export categories (2-digit HS) in 2011 were: Aircraft ($921 million), Machinery ($656 million), Optic and Medical Instruments ($410 million), Inorganic Chemicals ($246 million), and Electrical Machinery ($243 million).

U.S. exports of agricultural products to Norway totaled $83 million in 2011. Leading categories include: tree nuts ($22 million), and processed fruit and vegetables ($21 million).

U.S. exports of private commercial services* (i.e., excluding military and government) to Norway were $2.7 billion in 2010 (latest data available), up 6.4% ($165 million) from 2009, and up 137% from 1994 level. Other private services (business, professional, and technical services, and financial services), and travel categories led U.S. services exports to Norway.

Imports

Norway was the United States' 40th largest supplier of goods imports in 2011.

U.S. goods imports from Norway totaled $8.3 billion in 2011, a 19.6% increase ($1.4 billion) from 2010, and up 46% from 2000.

The five largest import categories in 2011 were: Mineral Fuel and Oil ($5.0 billion), Electrical Machinery ($352 million), Nickel and Articles Thereof ($306 million), Fish and Seafood (atlantic salmon) ($304 million), and Machinery ($288 million).

U.S. imports of agricultural products from Norway totaled $68 million in 2011. The leading category was cheese ($38 million).

U.S. imports of private commercial services * (i.e., excluding military and government) were $1.8 billion in 2010 (latest data available), up 22.7% ($335 million) from 2009, and up 53% from 1994 level. The other transportation category (freight services) accounted for most of U.S. services imports from Norway.
