WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio - (left) A Heli-Basket(r) is suspended beneath an HH-60 rescue helicopter. The Air Force Research Laboratory's Human Effectiveness Directorate provided guidance on flight tests and did data analysis for evaluating the basket's safety as a human rescue tool. The Heli-Basket would enable rescuers to quickly extract up to 15 people trapped in areas unsuitable for helicopter landings. Originally a cargo carrier, it was adapted and tested to meet a Homeland Defense requirement for short-range human rescue in disaster situations. (Precision Lift, Inc. courtesy photo)
