Dr. Burke is the Director of Psychological Health.  Prior to joining Health Services at HQMC, Dr. Burke was the Program Director for Mental Health Policy in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense, Health Affairs, from 2003 to 2005; the Executive Secretary of DoD Mental Health Task Force from 2006 to 2007; and Director of the Deployment Stress Management Program for the U.S. Department of State from 2008 to 2009.

Dr. Burke earned his BA and MD from the University of Colorado and his MPH from the Harvard School of Public Health.  He is Board Certified in Psychiatry and Aerospace Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine.  He retired from the Army in 2005 at the rank of Colonel after twenty three years of service.

Dr Burke's personal awards include the Parachute Badge, Master Army Flight Surgeon Wings, and the Defense Superior Service Medal.
