Active constituents

Active constituents are the substance(s) in an agricultural or veterinary chemical product that are primarily responsible for a product's biological or other effects. They must be approved either before, or at the same time as, the product is being registered. A limited number of active constituents are evaluated and approved under section 14A of the Agvet Code.

Trade-related aspects of intellectual property rights protection:

The APVMA ensures the quality of active constituents used in agricultural chemical products through our Quality Assurance Scheme for Agricultural Active Constituents and Agricultural Chemical Products.

Record of approved active constituents

The record of approved active constituents for chemical products is updated on a regular basis, and updates are published in the APVMA Gazette before being added to the record of approved active constituents.

Below is the list of approved active constituents as at 19 February 2014. The list does not contain updates to the existing approvals in the record and any new approvals from 19 February 2014. You should refer to PubCRIS for accurate details of the approvals.
