Messages for U.S. Citizens

Reminder - Security Announcements Web Page

Due to the increasing number and frequency of Messages for U.S. Citizens relating to immediate security situations in Kabul afnd elsewhere in Afghanistan, we have established a web page to check for these announcements.  This reduces the number of e-mails you receive from the Embassy.  We will still send Messages for U.S. Citizens if there is unusual or especially serious information to share.  However, for messages that in Afghanistan are routine, such as demonstrations or temporary security situations that cause the Embassy to place an area off-limits to its employees, we now post the most recent information under Security Announcements, linked from this page:

U.S. citizens in Afghanistan should regularly monitor the Embassy’s website (http://kabul.usembassy.gov/), and the Department of State's Bureau of Consular Affairs website, where Country Specific Information and the Travel Warning for Afghanistan are found.  In addition, the Embassy encourages U.S. citizens to review "A Safe Trip Abroad," which includes valuable security information for those traveling or living in foreign countries.  The Embassy would also like to take this opportunity to encourage U.S. citizens to sign up for the Department’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program, which will allow the Consular Section to better assist you in the event of an emergency.

The U.S. Embassy is located at Great Masood Road between Radio Afghanistan and the Ministry of Public Health in Kabul.  To reach the American Citizens Services unit during business hours, please call 0700-108-499 or send us an e-mail (KabulACS@state.gov).  You can also reach us through the Embassy’s switchboard by calling 0700-108-001/002.  For after-hours emergencies involving U.S. citizens, please call the Consular Duty Officer at 0700-201-908.

Sincerely,

Consular Section
U.S. Embassy Kabul
