Amber Jenkins has a Ph.D. in particle physics from Imperial College, London and a First Class Master's degree in natural sciences from Cambridge University. Her Ph.D. took her from England to Chicago, Illinois, where she spent time researching the Higgs boson at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. Amber then moved back across the pond and into scientific publishing, working as a Senior Editor at Nature Publishing Group. She worked for research journal Nature and founded Nature Photonics, now one of the highest-impact peer-reviewed publications in the physical sciences. That venture took her back out to the States and to San Francisco.
Today, she is based at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California. Amber is Editor of NASA’s Global Climate Change website, which won Webby Awards (juried and public vote) for Best Science Website in 2010 and 2011. In addition, she is Project Manager for JPL's Center for Climate Sciences, and a research consultant. She loves hiking, a good cup of tea and going to the beach.
