Ruth White-Davis, DNS, RN, MN, NE-BC, was appointed as the Associate Director, Patient Care Services, Overton Brooks VA Medical Center (VAMC) in March 2012. Prior to the Shreveport appointment, Dr. Davis served as the Deputy Associate Director, Patient Care Services for the Department of Veterans Affairs Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS) from 2006 to 2012. From 2006 to 2008, she was the Chief Nurse, TVHS, Nashville Campus. Dr. Davis was assigned to the New Orleans VA Medical Center from 1991 to 2006. During her tenure she served as Nurse Manager Surgical Intensive Care/Step Down Unit, Nurse Educator, and Intensive Care staff nurse. She was also an adjunct faculty member at Charity Delgado School of Nursing.
Dr. Davis has held positions in the private sector and state healthcare institutions as Associate Director of Nursing, Nursing Supervisor and Nurse Manager.
Dr. Davis has been a registered nurse for over 30 years and has devoted 20 years of her career to nursing administration. She holds Doctorate and Master’s degrees in Nursing Administration from Louisiana State University Health Science Center (LSUHSC) in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Davis is a graduate of Leadership VA, class of 2002, VA Healthcare Leadership Institute class of 2004 and VHA Executive Career Field, class of 2008. She has been recognized by the Veterans Integrated Service Network 16 and the New Orleans VAMC with numerous Special Contribution Awards to include the Secretary’s Hero Award for her contributions during Hurricane Katrina. She is also the recipient of the LSUHSC Outstanding Doctoral Graduate Award and the F.A. Excellence in Writing Award.
She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society and the American Nurses Association.
