Biography of the Deputy Chief of Mission

David Reimer is currently the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy, Nouakchott, Mauritania.  Prior to this assignment, David was the Senior Refugee Coordinator at the U.S. Embassy, Baghdad, Iraq, responsible for resettling Iraqi refugees into the United States and providing assistance to internally displaced.

David’s other overseas assignments include: Geneva, Switzerland as a refugee officer; Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Milan, Italy and Bonn, Germany as an economic officer; and Belize City, Belize as a consular officer.  In Washington, D.C., David has worked at the Department of State’s Africa Bureau and Economic Bureau.

David was raised in Ohio and has a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Goshen College, in Goshen, Indiana, and a Master’s Degree in Public and International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh.
