     Sharon Helman, Medical Center Director

     Ms. Helman was appointed director of the Phoenix VA Health Care System on Feb. 26, 2012.

     As director, Ms. Helman oversees all aspects of this level 1b tertiary care hospital with an annual operating budget of more than $400 million.  The PVAHCS has been rated nationally as a top performing hospital by the Joint Commission. Our high quality health care to more than 85,000 Veterans includes primary care, specialty care, inpatient care and extended support services. We also have five VA-staffed community health care clinics two contracted community health care clinics.

     Prior to her appointment, Helman served as the director of the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital in Chicago. She also served as the director of the Spokane (Wash.) VA Medical Center, director of the Walla Walla (Wash.) VA Medical Center, and associate director at the VA Roseberg (Ore.) Health Care System. Read full biography.
