Embassy Press Office

The Embassy’s Press Office works with local media, promoting dialogue and informing them about U.S. policies and society through a wide variety of services, including the distribution of press releases and other documents, the organization of press conferences and interviews, and the presentation of Digital Video Conferences.

The Press Office organizes press conferences and interviews with U.S. officials and delegations. The Press Office also coordinates Digital Video Conferences with U.S. officials and academics so as to provide access for local journalists to a broad range of interlocutors.

The Press Office distributes to the print and electronic media in Mali material ranging from short press releases to the full translated texts of important official documents such as policy papers and speeches. The Washington File, a collection of current articles and official texts on issues of interest, is available in the internet and distributed each day to the Malian media. Also available are selected electronic journals, which focus on specific policy issues, subjects, or themes in a comprehensive and authoritative manner, as well as other electronic publications and information about the United States.

The Press Office also works with the U.S. Department of State’s Foreign Press Centers in Washington, DC, New York, and Los Angeles. The Foreign Press Centers can provide Malian journalists on assignment in the U.S. with a variety of services to help them report on American society, politics and culture. The Press Office also provides resource and contact assistance for journalists interested in media in the United States.

Press inquiries should be directed to the Information Specialist or Public Affairs Officer in the Public Affairs Office.
