STS members conduct ops with Army helo unit

NEAR CHINHAE, Republic of Korea -- Crew members throw a rope ladder out the back of a U.S. Army MH-47 helicopter from the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) to retrieve members of the 320th Special Tactics Squadron from the water during an infiltration/exfiltration training mission here March 20 during Foal Eagle 2009. Foal Eagle is an annual combined training exercise for U.S. and Republic of Korea forces to evaluate and improve their ability to coordinate procedures, plans and systems necessary to defend the ROK. Zak Blom, a 17th Special Operations Squadron pilot, fly a formation, low-level training mission here March 2 in a MC-130P Combat Shadow. The primary mission of the 17th SOS is to aerial refuel special operations helicopters, but it is also capable of day and night low-level delivery of troops and equipment via airdrop or airland operations. SOG Airmen train with Marines

KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- Maintenance personnel from the 353rd Maintenance Squadron hustle to complete a post-flight maintenance inspection on a 1st Special Operations Squadron MC-130H Combat Talon II Jan. 14. The 1st SOS conducted a training mission with Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit Detachment 18. Crews from the 1st SOS constantly train with U.S. and allied forces to hone their capabilities to infiltrate, exfiltrate and resupply forces in austere, denied or hostile territory. KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- An aircrew from the 1st Special Operations Squadron airdrops a Riggable Alternate Method Zodiac, or RAMZ, package consisting of an inflatable zodiac boat and engine, from a MC-130H Combat Talon II here Dec. 2. Pararescuemen and combat controllers from the 320th Special Tactics Squadron, who also jumped from the aircraft, used the RAMZ to search for survivors of a simulated aircraft accident.
