Established in 1991, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing's Historical Resource Center (HRC) is home to well over 1 million objects pertaining to the BEP and its products.  The collection contains primarily two-dimensional objects such as artwork on paper, printing proofs, postage stamps, currency, revenue stamps, debt instruments, vignettes, and miscellaneous products.  The HRC also maintains photographs, correspondence, and miscellaneous documents.  Items from the collection are used for exhibits displayed within BEP facilities in Washington, DC, and Fort Worth, Texas.

The work of the HRC also includes a history program.  HRC staff members perform independent research on the history of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing and its products.  Research findings are reported through short articles, research papers, timelines, and other materials.

REQUESTS FOR INFORMATION

The HRC is not available to the public on a walk-in basis, but HRC staff does respond to written requests for assistance.  The HRC makes every effort to respond to inquiries but responses may take some time to answer.  In some cases a fee may be charged for services rendered.
