International Afghan Tourism Conference Announced

May 23-30, 2011

Afghanistan Reconstruction Summit, Ras Al Khaimah, UAE

May 5-6, 2011

On May 5-6, Global Investment Summits, in partnership with the Afghan-American Chamber of Commerce, will host the Afghanistan Reconstruction Summit Ras Al Khaimah, UAE at the Hamra Hotels and Resort.  This event succeeds the successful Afghanistan Reconstruction Summit held in January 2010 and Afghan – Iraq Investment Summit held in June 2010, both organized by Global Investment Summit.  The focus of this summit will be on business and investment opportunities in construction and materials, agribusiness and food processing, information and communications technologies, mining and natural resources, tourism development, transport and logistics and many other arenas of opportunity.  This Summit provides a forum to meet face to face with participants in pre-scheduled, private meetings.  Read more here.

A Promotional Event for the Tourism Investment Conference

The Afghan-American Chamber of Commerce (AACC) and the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) will hold a promotional event on Thursday, April 28, 2011 for the upcoming Tourism Investment Conference in the Bamyan and Panjshir provinces and Kabul City, May 23 to 29th, 2011.  The promotional event will take place at TeqCorner, 1616 Anderson Road, #100 in McLean, Virginia on Thursday, April 28, 2011 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

Featured speaker will be Ms. Pendry Haines who has works on the Indigenous Industries team for DOD's Task Force for Business and Stability Operations.  The Indigenous Industries team aims to revitalize traditional Afghan industries.  She has been actively involved in organizing the tourism conference.  Most recently, Pendry organized a trip to Bamyan for a delegation. She is also working on a project to create a potato packing facility for the farmers of Bamyan.

The Tourism Investment Conference in Afghanistan will feature special opportunities for new ventures in tourism infrastructure and specific tour opportunities for travel companies.  Visits to the top tourist locations in Bamyan, Panjshir, and the City of Kabul are planned for both domestic and international investors.

ConExpo / ConAgg

March 22 – March 26, 2011

In partnership with the Afghanistan & Iraq Investment and Reconstruction Task Force of the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Afghanistan Builders Association is organizing a delegation of 8 to 12 Afghan construction firms to attend ConExpo in Las Vegas, NV, from Tuesday, March 22 to Saturday, March 26, 2011.  The Afghan firms want to meet U.S. companies that are able to form Joint Ventures, make investments into their firms, form agent or representative partnerships, or enter into other types of working relationships with them.  The Afghan firms are seeking U.S. partners to work on the large construction projects being awarded by the U.S. military and other donors in Afghanistan.  They are looking for U.S. companies that have experience working internationally and specialize in construction, engineering, design build, and project management etc.
