The Cancer Genome Workbench (CGWB portal)

Explore, visualize, and analyze genomic and expression data from large collections of multi-dimensional research data such as The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), Therapeutically Applicable Research to Generate Effective Treatment (TARGET), and other data sets.

Currently available data

Currently the Cancer Genome Workbench (CGWB) portal provides analytical access to the following data sets:

  • The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) including Glioblastoma (GBM), invasive breast carcinoma (BRCA), colon carcinoma (COAD), lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC), serous cystadenocarcinoma (OV), and rectum adenocarcinoma (READ)
  • TARGET Acute Lymphoblastic Anemia (ALL), and Neuroblastoma
  • Tumor Sequencing Project (TSP) lung cancer data from Baylor College of Medicine and the TSP Genome Sequencing Center
  • Catalogue of Somatic Mutations in Cancer (COSMIC) from 30 different tissues
  • Glioblastoma multiforme and pancreatic cancer somatic mutations from The Johns Hopkins University
  • NCI60 cell line genomic profiling data from the NCI laboratory of population genetics
  • Expression data from more than 300 cell lines provided by GlaxoSmithKline
  • Repository for Molecular Brain Neoplasia Data (REMBRANDT)

Types of analysis

  • Visualize gene mutations (SNPs, copy number variations, and methylation data) in the gene or genome views
  • View heatmaps showing gene expression and methylation data, somatic mutations, CNV
  • Compare molecular data generated using different platforms or from different studies to evaluate data consistency
  • View coverage maps for next-generation DNA sequencing data
  • View correlation plots to examine expression and methylation data

Use the CGWB portal

The best way to get started is to visit the CGWB portal and identify your areas of interest.
