Forage
Suitability Group Database
The Forage Suitability Database allows you to query adapted forage species for a
particular soil. Queries can be based on a Major Land Resource Area (MLRA), precipitation zones, soil
type, dryland or irrigated land use, and the forage plant's adaptability to the
site. The program also has links to an instruction manual, the Wyoming
MLRA map, the Web Soil Survey to assist in determining your soil type, lists of
each Wyoming county's soils and their corresponding Forage Suitability Group, Forage Sustainability Group narratives, the "Plants Database Fact Sheets," and the background Land
Resource Unit information on the factors used to assign Wyoming's Forage
Suitability Groups.
