June 9, Shiojiri - In an event organized by the Nagoya American Center, Minister-Counselor for Public Affairs at U.S. Embassy Tokyo Phillip P. Hoffmann spoke to a local audience about U.S. cultural geography at Shiojiri City Community Center in Nagano Prefecture.  Mr. Hoffmann described variations in U.S. regional characteristics resulting from inhabitants’ differing cultural, religious and political backgrounds.

The speech was made possible through a relationship between Nagoya American Center and the Shinshu University Library.  As a host to one of Nagoya American Center's "American Shelves", the library maintains a collection of reference materials about the United States, American society, American history, the study and teaching of English, and study in the United States, all of which are available to the public.
