US Ambassador Helps East La Penitence Clean Up Community

June 25, 2012

“Guyana Shines” is making a huge impact in Guyana and inspiring other organizations. This Saturday, US Ambassador, D. Brendt Hardt, joined the East La Penitence CDG in their neighborhood cleaning. About three months ago US Ambassador, D. Brent Hardt, and the US Embassy decided it was time to make a change and reverse the increasing pollution in Guyana. It’s been over a little over month now since the launching of “Guyana Shines”, an initiative to restore the beauty of Guyana starting with attacking pollution. The vision of seeing Guyana becoming a cleaner and more environmentally friendly country is coming into formation.

Over the past few weeks we have seen multiple organizations created that share the same purpose – “cleaning-up” Guyana. The East La Penitence Community Development Group (CDG) is community organization that has joined the cause and participates in a neighborhood cleaning every two months. The leaders of East La Penitence were inspired by the positive mission of Guyana Shines and decided to reach out to the US Embassy for its support. Their call was promptly answered. The US Embassy was more than happy to assist the group. US Ambassador, D. Brendt Hardt was among the embassy staff that joined the East La Penitence CDG in their neighborhood cleaning.

The US Embassy is happy to see that Guyana Shines is creating a stir and becoming an agent for change. Combating pollution starts with keeping your home and the community clean. The US Embassy hopes Guyana Shines encourages many more communities, groups, and organizations to fight the polluting of Guyana and restore the beauty of this country.
