Events

  • Solar Lamp Inauguration Event (December 14, 2011):  USAID is organizing an inauguration event with the Ministry of Social Affairs (grantee) in Martissant, for recently installed solar lights.
  • Farmers Market (December 17, 2011):  The USAID-supported Watershed Initiative for
  • St. Marc Handover Event (December 19, 2011):  USAID has supported the International Organization for Migration to implement stabilization and capacity building activities in St. Marc since 2004.  As the program recently closed out in St. Marc, a handover ceremony will occur with local officials. 
  • Tractor Handover (December 2011):  The USAID-supported Watershed Initiative for
  • Ennery Bridge Inauguration Ceremony (December 2011/January 2012):  USAID recently completed construction on the Ennery Bridge, which will provide a new access point to the North.  USAID is currently working to confirm details for the inauguration ceremony.
  • Inauguration of Refurbished Power Plant (January 12, 2012):  The USAID WINNER project is refurbishing a power facility next to their Centre Rurale Pour Developpment Durable (CRDD) in Bas Boen.  An event will be scheduled in January/February 2012.      
  • New CRDD Inauguration (January/February 2012):  WINNER will complete a new CRDD with USAID assistance in Duvier during the coming months.  The CRDDs are agricultural demonstration and training facilities aimed at modernizing Haitian agriculture through the introduction of improved practices, better varieties and equipment.  The new facility is the 7th CRDD completed with USAID assistance. 
  • Millet Bridge Inauguration (April 2012):  USAID is replacing Millet Bridge in Port-au-Prince, which was identified a dangerous, failed structure.  Construction is scheduled for completion in April 2012.
  • Northern Power Plant to be Complete (June 2012):  Construction on a 10 MW power facility―constructed with USAID support―to provide electricity to the new Caracol Industrial Park will be completed in June 2012. 
  • Haiti Mobile Money Initiative Will Celebrate 1 Million Transactions (TBD):  USAID partnered with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to launch the first mobile money campaign in Haiti.  USAID partner HIFIVE is currently verifying the “1 million transactions” mark; once verified, an event will celebrate this milestone.
