Audiobooks
Audiobooks are great for people who commute, people who exercise with a personal listening device like and iPod, and for people who are vision impaired but still love the joy of a good book. Each library maintains a growing collection of fiction and nonfiction audiobooks.
Audiobooks can be checked out for 3 weeks and are renewable up to two times if no one else has requested them. They are available on both Compact Disc and Cassette Tape.
We also offer downloadable audiobooks.

Book Discussion Groups
Many Libraries host regular book discussion groups. Check with your library to find out how to get involved.
Books
When you add all the libraries together there are nearly 800,000 books available to you. Most circulating books (non-reference) can be checked out for 3 weeks and are renewable up to two times, if no one else has requested them.

Borrowing
To ensure that you have access to the materials you want in a timely fashion, Army Europe Libraries sets limits on the number of items any one person may check out, and the length of time those items may be kept.
DVDs have a 7-day check out period. Almost everything else can be borrowed for 21 days. Everything can be renewed two times unless someone has requested the item.
You can borrow as many books, CDs, audiobooks, and VHS tapes as you like. You can borrow up to 10 DVDs at one time. Reference books are for in-library use only.

Computers and Printing
U.S. Army in Europe libraries have more than 460 public computers. Almost all computers have Internet access, except a few Web catalog-only stations per library that provide quick access to the library Web catalog. All the other computers have Internet access and have print capabilities.

Donations
Army Europe Libraries are pleased to accept donations of used books, DVDs, CDs and other materials. These items may be added to the library collection or given away. According to AR 735-17, the library is unable to provide vouchers for tax purposes.

Electronic books
The library subscribes to several eBook services and also recommends additional resources free on the Web. Check out the eBooks page to get started.
Electronic journals
The library offers thousands of full-text electronic magazines, journals, and newspapers. Check out the Research page to get started or go directly to the Quick Search to search for a title.
Exam Proctoring
In most cases, a librarian can proctor your exam. Contact your library to get started.

Homework Help
Compiled for specific age groups, homework help resources are geared towards younger audiences. Try Homework Help for Elementary School students or High School students. Students can also choose to use the full breadth of the database options by visiting the Research section (the Quick Search is a good place to start).

Interlibrary Loan (borrowing outside U.S. Army in Europe libraries)
Checked the library catalog to see if the item you want is located at any Army Europe Libraries locations and couldn’t find it? Interlibrary Loan (ILL) at the Army Europe Libraries may be able to get it for you. Ask library staff to place a request for you or contact us for more information.
Internet Access
The library offers self-service Internet Access. In most libraries, scan your CAC, ID, or MWR card at the PC Reservation station in your library to get a computer for 60 minutes. Several libraries also offer WiFi (wireless Internet access).

Readers’ Advisory
The library offers integrated advisory services in the Web catalog. Check the main page for recommended lists, use the similar author or title suggestions when looking at a particular item, or get an advanced query using the “Need more?” option. Soldier support
The library strives to give soldiers the information they need, when they need it. Check out the Soldier Portal and Services for Deployed Troops for more information.
Storytimes
The library encourages developing literacy skills right from birth. Many libraries offers weekly storytimes for children. Storytimes entertain, educate, and foster family and community relationships and are developed by library staff with specific literacy and educational goals in mind. Stories are usually read by Library staff, but special guests have been known to make appearances. Check with your library for times and dates.
Study Rooms
Some libraries have private study rooms that are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Check your Library location page or contact your library to inquire.

Test Preparation (select “Test Prep” tab)
The Library has materials for patrons studying for academic exams such as CLEP, DSST, SAT, GRE, LSAT, and many more. Also, for online test preparation materials register for a free Peterson’s Education & Lifelong Learning Resource account.
Tours
Please contact your Library to arrange a tour of the facility. Library staff members love to show off their amazing resources. Everyone is a distinguished visitor in our libraries so don’t hesitate to book an appointment today. All ages welcome.
Typewriters
Most of the Libraries have at least one of these historic machines on display. All of them are in working condition and you are very welcome to use one during regular hours.

Video Games
Check out video games from the latest platforms. Many of the Libraries also host gaming programs for children and adults. Contact your library about video games and gaming tournaments.

Wireless Access
The Library is pleased to provide free wireless Internet access. Currently, not all facilities in Europe have WiFi but more libraries will be providing this service in 2009. Check your Library location page or contact them to find out if WiFi is available near you.
