2007 SPAIG Award Winner

2007 Spaig Award

The American Statistical Association (ASA) established the Statistical Partnerships among Academe, Industry and Government (SPAIG) Award in 2002 to recognize outstanding partnerships established between academe and business, industry, and government organizations and to promote new partnerships. It is the only ASA award that recognizes organizations.

The 2007 SPAIG award was given to the following organizations:

  • University of Michigan
  • University of Pennsylvania
  • National Cancer Institute
  • National Center for Health Statistics
  • National Center for Chronic Disease Presentation and Heath Promotion
  • Information Management Services

The award cites an outstanding partnership, which has resulted in publication of improved small area estimates for cancer risk factors and cancer screening behavior, improved mathematical analysis techniques of survey data for survey organizations, development of advanced techniques for combining results from multiple surveys that can be adapted to other surveys, and obtaining publications and grant opportunities in relatively new research areas for junior researchers.
