Legislative Update: President Obama Signs Legislation Extending Federal Highway Programs through June 2012 March 2012

On March 30, President Barack Obama signed legislation (P.L. 112-102) extending authorization of federal highway programs, including the Appalachian Development Highway System, through June 2012. The Senate and House of Representatives had approved it on March 29. The previous authorization, which was also an extension, was set to expire March 31. The last multi-year authorization of highway programs (SAFETEA-LU) expired on September 30, 2009.
