Roe Statement on H.R. 6169, the Pathway to Job Creation through A Simpler, Fairer Tax Code Act of 2012

WASHINGTON D.C. – Today, U.S. Congressman Phil Roe, M.D. (TN-01) released the following statement on passage of H.R. 6169, the Pathway to Job Creation through a Simpler, Fairer Tax Code of 2012:
“It has been more than 25 years since we’ve reformed our nation’s tax code. Since then countless loopholes have come and gone, further complicating an already complex system. I believe it is imperative that our tax code be examined with great scrutiny, simplified and streamlined today so we can grow our economy.
“For too long, Americans have dealt with a complicated, cluttered system filled with red tape, bureaucracy, and loopholes. This is why I am proud to support passage of the Pathway to Job Creation through a Simpler, Fairer Tax Code Act, which will provide a clear pathway to comprehensive tax reform.”
The Pathway to Job Creation through a Simpler, Fairer Tax Code Act will require a comprehensive tax reform package to be introduced in the House of Representatives by April 30, 2013 and then creates rules to expedite the bill’s consideration in both the House and Senate.
