WINGER CARTOON BLACK & WHITE CHARACTER STUDY SHEET

The 910 AW's 'Winger' is a feature cartoon character from the 910th Airlift Wing Public Affairs office. Shown above is the original black and white charcter study sheet for 'Winger' submitted to the editors of the 'Airstream' magazine to introduce the cartoon to the magazine staff. His first 'official and full color' appearance was in the October 2007 Airstream magazine. 'Winger' was featured in the hardcopy Airstream until the last issue, January-Febrauary 2012. He has also appeared in the unit's 'depolyed' ORI newsletters. 'Winger' and his friends now 'live' here on our public Web site.

'Winger' is portrayed as a C-130 assigned to Youngstown Air Reserve Station and has been on many adventures involving the 910th's many missions including airlift, aerial spray, medical, security forces, maintenance, communications and many more. '031 WINGER - HAITI AID' won 'Best Graphics Illustration' in the 2010 Air Force Reserve Command Media Contest.

Please scroll down the page to see all of the adventures of  'Winger' and his friends since they became part of the YARS family in 2007. You can also click on any of the images in the slide shows to download high-resolution files of the images.

"Winger" is a graphic artwork created by Master Sgt. Bob Barko Jr., the Superintendent of Public Affairs for the 910th Airlift Wing. Each 'Winger' cartoon is hand-drawn, digitally scanned, then colorized and finally enhanced in Adobe Photoshop
