How to Access Care during Duty Hours (0800-1700):

Emergencies should go to the nearest emergency room.

Tuttle Army Health Clinic does not have emergency room capabilities. For same day, routine and wellness appointments call the Central Appointment Line at (912)435-6633 or (800)652-9221. The Central Appointment Line is open Monday through Friday from 0800-1800. It is closed weekends, training holidays and federal holidays. You can also register at www.tricareonline.com to schedule an appointment at your convenience. If you require a same day appointment and no appointment is available, a telephone consult will be sent from The Central Appointment Line to the Clinic Triage Nurse. The Clinic Triage Nurse will call you back as soon as possible and will make every attempt to get you seen in the clinic.

Beneficiaries who have urgent health care needs in which we are unable to accommodate with a same day appointment will be authorized care at a local urgent care center. You will receive a consult number from the nurse that you will need to give to the Urgent Care Center. If you have been pre-authorized to go to an Urgent Care Center during duty hours, there is no requirement to submit any paperwork to Tuttle after your visit. Urgent One (14089 Abercorn St) and Immediate Med (10410 Abercorn St) are two urgent care centers in the Savannah area. Please inform the Nurse which Urgent Care Center you will be visiting.

All Active Duty Service Members should make every attempt to report to sick call from 0730-0800; however, if your illness/injury occurs after sick call hours, please walk-in to the clinic for assistance.

Using Urgent Care Services:

TRICARE defines urgent care as medically necessary treatment for an illness or injury that would not result in further disability or death if not treated immediately but that requires professional attention within 24 hours.

Examples of urgent care situations include: minor cuts, migraine headache, urinary tract infection, sprain, earache, or a rising fever.

In most cases, you can receive urgent care from your primary care manager (PCM) by making a same-day appointment. However, if your PCM is unable to provide this care in a timely manner, you may be referred to a network urgent care provider. It is important that you obtain a referral from your PCM before you receive urgent care from anyone other than your PCM. If you do not coordinate urgent care with your PCM or Humana Military, your care will be covered under the point-of-service (POS) option at greater out-of-pocket cost to you. If you are out of area and cannot wait until you see your PCM for treatment, you must contact your PCM for a referral or call Humana Military for assistance before receiving services.

The POS option allows beneficiaries to receive nonemergency care from any TRICARE-authorized provider without requesting a referral from their PCM, resulting in a POS deductible of $300/Individual, or $600/Family and a POS cost-share of 50% after the POS deductible is met.

Urgent Care requires pre-authorization. Please help us help you avoid being billed for Point of Service Care by using the following steps.

Steps for obtaining an Urgent Care Referral:

  1. During normal working hours, please call the Call Center (912-435-6633 and press 0) to book an appointment with your PCM.
    1. If an appointment is not available with your PCM or PCM Team, a telephone consult will be placed with the triage nurse. The triage nurse should contact you within 90 minutes.
    2. If after speaking with the triage nurse an acute appointment cannot be made, the triage nurse will refer you to Urgent Care.
    3. Before hanging up please obtain the MTF Order Number.  You will need to provide this number to the Urgent Care Clinic to avoid being billed.
