Supporting Documents

All applicants must provide a passport valid for at least six months beyond their planned arrival in the United States.

U.S. immigration law requires that nonimmigrant visa applicants present evidence of strong economic, family and/or social ties to a residence outside of the United States.  Applicants who provide documentation of strong ties that compel them to return to their residence have a better chance of being approved for a visa.  Consular Officers in Bahrain are familiar with conditions in Bahrain but often encounter difficulties assessing an applicant's ties to another country.  The Consular Section recommends providing the following documents to help demonstrate the applicant's ties to Bahrain:

  • For non-Bahraini nationals, documents showing residency in Bahrain, including a valid residence and re-entry permit;
  • Employment letter stating job title, length of service, salary, and dates and type of employment contract;
  • Bank statements demonstrating the ability to adequately support oneself in the United States;
  • Previous passports showing prior international travel;
  • Commercial Registration documents (for business owners);
  • Current employment information, and information on educational and professional qualifications (for applicants applying for work visas).

Applicants should use their best judgment in determining what documents or information will be necessary to support their application.  Certain visa categories will require additional documentation.  Please remember that the above list is not exhaustive. Depending on an applicant's situation, the Consular Officer may request additional documents to make an accurate assessment of the application.  Alternatively, the interviewing Consular Officer may decide that the information in the application form is sufficient to adjudicate the application.
