EWB Site Visit

Ambassador Beyer, accompanied by a small group of Embassy staffers, received a guided tour of the Energie Wasser Bern (EWB) Matte Electricity Station by CEO Mr. Daniel Schafer and Jörg Reiser from EWB. After a short introduction and history of the Bern hydroelectric power plant, the group was taken on a tour of the current operating facilities which included viewing special photographs of the original plant built in 1891 and power generation equipment that was used through the first half of the 1900’s. After the site visit, Ambassador Beyer was presented two environmental electricity certificates by CEO Mr. Daniel Schafer commemorating the Embassy’s purchasing and support of “Renewable Source Energy”.
