Welcome to NDAR!
The National Database for Autism Research (NDAR) is a resource housed at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) that will allow the formation of a world-wide "virtual team" of autism researchers. NDAR will provide seamless integration of data, research tools and institutions across the U.S. and beyond. Currently, data gathered in autism-related research is parochial, separated by format, location and method of analysis. As a result, it is difficult to access the disparate data sets, and often impossible to perform meta-analyses or cross-site data comparisons. Investigators desiring collaborative relationships must first deal with the differences in their institutions' methods of data storage and retrieval, leading to delays in the initiation of the project and analysis of data. NDAR will provide a common platform for data collection, retrieval and archives, while allowing for individual differences in data entry and analysis.
