OPIC is conveniently located in the heart of Washington, D.C. at the intersections of New York Avenue and 12th Street N.W., just one block north of Metro Center (a stop on the Red, Blue and Orange Metro subway lines). The Washington, D.C. area has extensive transportation services: three major airports, Amtrak, a world class subway system, and easy access from I-95 and I-66.
All visitors need to be sure that they arrive during OPIC’s regular business hours (8:15 am - 5:00 pm) unless other arrangements are made. Visitors must report to the guard’s desk in the building lobby. Because of increased security, visitors will be asked to show ID. The guard will escort all OPIC visitors to the East Tower elevators that will take them to the 12th floor receptionist. The receptionist will announce their arrival to the appropriate parties.
Visitors traveling by Metro should take the Blue, Orange, or Red lines to Metro Center and use the 12th & G Street exit. Take the escalator to the street, make a U turn and walk one block north on 12th Street to H Street. OPIC is in the building directly across H Street opposite the Marriott Hotel.
Traveling north: Take I-95 to I-395. Take I-395 north to Washington, DC. Take the 12th Street, NW/Downtown exit from 395, and take 12th Street north across H Street. 1100 New York Avenue (in which OPIC offices are located) will be on your right.
Traveling south: Take I-495 to I-66. Take I-66 east to Washington, DC. Take the Route 50/Constitution Avenue exit. Take Constitution Avenue east to 12th Street. Turn left on 12th Street. Take 12th Street north until you cross H Street. 1100 New York Avenue (in which OPIC offices are located) will be on your right.
From Maryland points North of Washington, DC: Take I-95 South to the Baltimore Washington Parkway toward Washington. Take the New York Avenue Exit. At 5th Street stay to the right, it will change to L Street. Travel on L Street and turn left onto 9th Street, just past New York Avenue. 1100 New York Avenue (in which OPIC offices are located) will be on your right.
From Maryland points West of Washington, DC: Take 1-270 to the Washington Beltway 495 West toward Northern Virginia. Take the George Washington (GW) Parkway to 395 North. Take the 12th Street, NW/Downtown exit from 395, and take 12th Street north across H Street. 1100 New York Avenue (in which OPIC offices are located) will be on your right.
From Maryland points East of Washington, DC: Take Route 50 to New York Avenue. At 5th Street stay to the right, it will change to L Street. Travel on L Street and turn left onto 9th Street, just past New York Avenue. 1100 New York Avenue (in which OPIC offices are located) is on your right.
Follow the signs to George Washington Parkway North towards I-395 and Washington, DC. Follow the signs across the 14th Street Bridge. Take the 12th Street, NW/Downtown exit from 395, and take 12th Street north across H Street. 1100 New York Avenue (in which OPIC offices are located) is in the building on your right.
Note: You may also take the Metro Blue Line directly from National Airport to Metro Center and follow the Metro directions above.
Follow the signs to Interstate 66 east to Washington. Follow I-66 to the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge (US Route 50). Take the Constitution exit off of the bridge. Follow Constitution and turn left onto 12th St. Take 12th Street north until you cross H Street. 1100 New York Avenue (in which OPIC offices are located) will be on your right.
Note: I-66 is aggressively policed for violators of the high occupancy vehicles (3 or more passengers) law during rush hour (6:30-9:30 a.m. and 3:30-6:30 p.m.). If you are traveling during rush hour with fewer than three people take, I-495 south to Rt. 50 East for your approach into the city.
Take the Baltimore-Washington Parkway South (MD 295) to US 50 West (New York Ave.). Take New York Ave. to 7th Street. Turn right onto E St and right on to 12th St. 1100 New York Avenue (in which OPIC offices are located) is ahead on the right.
There is a public parking lot at 1100 New York Avenue (entrance on 12th street between H Street and New York Avenue). Please note that the parking lot is often full due to monthly parking contracts. There are other public parking garages located within a few blocks of OPIC. Parking fees range from $6 to $15 in downtown Washington, DC. Street parking is minimal and restricted to meters which require quarters.
