Health Care
There is a fundamental decision to be made about who will control the health care resources of our nation and who will control the health care decisions of our families. If the so-called “health reform” law is not repealed, we may wake up one day only to find that when our loved ones become ill they will wait weeks, perhaps months to see a mediocre doctor of the government's choosing only to be told by that same doctor that he or she cannot help because the treatment must be limited by the government protocols. I strongly believe that we must repeal and replace this flawed law.
I also believe that the health care status quo is unacceptable and support reforms that will harness the power of competition and choice to drive down the cost and increase the quality of health care, such as enacting medical liability reform and allowing Americans to purchase health coverage across state lines. In addition, I believe that we must pass legislation that will reduce waste, fraud and abuse within our health programs. I want to ensure that you can get the health care that you need, when you need it, and at a price that you can afford without the federal government coming between you and your doctor.
- I have cosponsored legislation to repeal and replace the new health care law. While the status quo is unacceptable, Congress should focus on commonsense reforms that ensure that you can get the health care that you need, when you need it, and at a price you can afford, without the federal government coming between you and your doctor.
- I have cosponsored Representative Paul Ryan’s Roadmap for America’s Future Act, a broad reform of our nation’s entitlement programs and health care, which uses the power of competition and choice to reform health care to make it more affordable and accessible for Americans.
- I have cosponsored legislation to allow Americans to purchase health insurance across state lines and to enact medical liability reform legislation.
