Consulate General in Barcelona

The Consulate General serves a consular district composed of the Spanish regions of Catalonia, Aragon and the Balearic Islands. It also represents the diplomatic and consular interests of the United States in the Principality of Andorra. Established in 1797, it is one of the oldest U.S. consulates in the world. In 1997, it celebrated 200 years of service to the U.S. and the region of Catalonia, Spain.

The Consul General is the representative of the government of the U.S. in the consular district. The Consular Section offers services to American citizens. The Public Affairs Section welcomes public and press inquiries about every aspect of the United States and works to foster mutual understanding through exchanges of persons and ideas and by administering cultural programs.

The Political and Economic Section follows important political and economic developments in the consular district and maintains regular contacts with local and regional governments, as well as with the Principality of Andorra.
