“Everybody can be great … because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love.”

Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

2012 National Day of Service logoTo honor the life and legacy of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, President Obama is asking Americans to volunteer this Saturday, January 19, 2013  as part of the National Day of Service. Many of your neighbors, friends, and family members have already committed to serve MLK Day and throughout the year, and there are several ways for you to get involved, too:

Sign up for a National Day of Service education event, host an event, or find other events near you.

If you’re in the Washington, DC area, please visit us at the Service Fair on the National Mall. This historic event is an opportunity to engage with service organizations that are having an impact on the issues you care about.

Whether it’s at the community or national level, giving back will make a difference in the lives of the individuals and the organizations you serve.
