What to Expect on the Day of Your Interview

Please allow at least 15 minutes to pass through security.  After passing through security, you will be directed to the Consular Section.  In the Consular waiting room, proceed to Window Number One.  There you will submit your confirmation page, appointment confirmation page, and you will pay your application fee. The application fee covers the application and interview and does not pay for the visa itself. 

You will be called to the windows two more times: for fingerprinting and then the interview with the Consular Officer.  Depending on the volume of appointments for that day, you may have to spend some time in the waiting room before you are interviewed.   

When you are called for your interview, please give the Consular Officer your receipt and any supporting documents which you brought with you. 

At the end of your interview, the Consular Officer will tell you that your application is:   

• Approved;
• Pending, contingent on you providing additional information;
• Pending, contingent on administrative processing; or
• Refused.

We advise that you do not make any non-refundable travel arrangements until the visa has been issued in your passport.
