Under the guidance of the Regional English Language Officer and Regional Senior English Language Fellow, the American Cultural Center (ACC) hosted three training sessions for English teachers, pedagogic advisors and inspectors from February 7 to 15. With the aim of enhancing the learning experience for students, the group of more than 100 participants explored pedagogical practices through a variety of learner-centered activities and covered teaching strategies, lesson planning, assessment, writing objectives, classroom management, and communicative language teaching in addition to issues specific to Niger.
The American Cultural Center in Niamey is home to one of the few Department of State sponsored English Language Programs in Africa. Through extensive course offerings and strong local contacts, the ACC has maintained a dynamic presence in Niger’s English teaching community.
