On August 26, over 100 guests gathered at the U.S. Embassy to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the ASLA-Fulbright program and to welcome 2009-2010 American Fulbright Grantees. In her remarks, Counselor for Press and Cultural Affairs Nicole Conn emphasized President Barack Obama’s commitment to educational exchange, and she highlighted the importance of the worldwide network of Fulbright alumni. She also gave special thanks to all the Finnish educational institutions that have helped to make the Fulbright program such a success. The guests were also greeted by newly arrived U.S. Ambassador Bruce J. Oreck*, as well as Executive Director of the Fulbright Center Terhi Mölsä.

The reception was organized as part of a three-day orientation program designed for the new American Fulbright grantees. The orientation covered services provided by the American Embassy and the Fulbright Center, and included lectures on the Finnish educational system, culture and language. Counselor for Press and Cultural Affairs Nicole Conn attended the event and brought the Embassy greetings.
