Inaugural Ceremony of the Reconfigured Ford Plant

May 11, 2010

On May 11th, 2010, Ambassador Carlos Pascual participated as a guest of honor in the inaugural ceremony of the newly-reconfigured Ford Cuautitlán Izcalli Plant, as well as to officially launch the 2011 Ford Fiesta model for the North American market.

President Felipe Calderón Hinojosa, the Governor of the State of Mexico Enrique Peña Nieto, and Secretary of the Economy Gerardo Ruiz Mateos also attended. Ford's $1 billion investment in reconfiguring its Cuatitlán plant is part of a $3 billion investment in Mexico announced in 2008. This plant will generate more than 2,000 jobs initially, and will be the platform for the production of 180,000 Ford Fiesta model vehicles for the North American market.

The Fiesta is Ford's first vehicle developed under its new global platform strategy, with similar assembly plants in Germany, Spain, China, and Thailand.
