SIT-TESOL CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
SHORT-TERM PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION COURSES
IN LA FORTUNA, COSTA RICA

The U.S. Embassy's Centro Franklin is pleased to announce an exciting new program for English language teachers in the Dominican Republic looking for short-term continuing education to improve their professional qualifications.  This program is part of the U.S. Embassy's commitment to foster English language teaching and learning worldwide.

This is an unique, one-time opportunity for a total of three (3) Dominican teacher-trainers and two (2) Dominican teachers of English to earn the internationally-recognized TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certification from now through July 2012 in the relaxed setting of Centro Espiral Mana in La Fortuna, Costa Rica, a small town in the center of the country.

There are two types of programs:  Four one-month TESOL certificate courses for English language teachers (minimum one year experience and TOEFL score of 550 or higher) and three two-week sessions for teacher-trainers (minimum five years experience, have presented three workshops/seminars to teachers over the last three two years, TOEFL score of 550).  Please refer to the schedule below for the training dates.

Successful candidates selected will receive a scholarship covering the tuition and room and board at the SIT-TESOL training center.  Candidates (or their teaching institutions) only pay for the round-trip flight from Santo Domingo to Costa Rica (approximately USD 400.00).  The Centro Franklin may be able to pay the international airfare for those qualified applicants who can demonstrate that their institution is unable to pay their travel.
