DOE Tribal Energy Development Guide: Electricity Grid Basics

DOE's Tribal Energy Development Guide includes an Electricity Grid Basics section that contains much useful information about electric transmission and the U.S. electrical grid, including pages on interconnection issues and interconnection of tribal utilities.

Western Governors' Association Renewable Energy Zones

The Western Governors' Association and DOE are working to identify those areas in the Western Interconnection that have both the potential for large-scale development of renewable resources and low environmental impacts. The Western Renewable Energy Zone initiative is intended to establish renewable energy development zones and support energy transmission development.

American Public Power Association (APPA)

The American Public Power Association (APPA) is a membership organization that provides services to help ensure adequate, reliable electricity at a reasonable price with proper protection of the environment.

National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA)

The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) is the national service organization dedicated to representing the national interests of cooperative electric utilities and their consumers. The Web site contains a listing and Web based map of cooperatives by state.

American Petroleum Institute (API)

The American Petroleum Institute (API) Web site includes information about oil and natural gas; policy issues; environment, health, and safety; and standards. The site also contains an extensive list of publications (most of which are available for purchase).

Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA)

The Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA) Web site provides general information on interstate natural gas pipelines, including numerous reports. It also provides several short movies including various aspects of pipeline right-of-way clearing and restoration, pipeline construction and operation, and pipeline safety.

Trans-Alaska Pipeline System Renewal EIS

The Trans-Alaska Pipeline System Renewal Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) Web site is the online center for public information and involvement in the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) Renewal EIS. The site includes the TAPS Final EIS in PDF format.

West-wide Energy Corridor Programmatic EIS Information Center

The West-wide Energy Corridor Programmatic EIS Information Center Web site is the online center for public information and involvement in the West-wide Energy Corridor (WWEC) Programmatic EIS. The WWEC Programmatic EIS addresses impacts from construction, operation, and decommissioning of energy corridors that could include both transmission lines and pipelines. The Programmatic EIS also provides general information on transmission lines and natural gas and oil pipelines.
