Energy Efficiency and Conservation Links: Vehicles

Links to information about energy efficiency and conservation in vehicles.

The following Web sites provide access to general information and relevant programs for energy efficiency and conservation in vehicles.

  • Fueleconomy.gov: This Web site, maintained by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), provides tips for improving gas mileage along with information on vehicle-specific gas mileage ratings, emissions, and safety.
  • How to Improve Gas Mileage: The Federal Trade Commission Web site provides tips to enhance fuel efficiency in vehicles.
  • Alternative Fuels and Advanced Vehicles Data Center: The DOE maintains this Web site which provides information about alternative fuels and advanced vehicles, including tools to identify and evaluate specific vehicle models, information on federal and state incentives for purchasing alternative fuel vehicles, and other state-by-state programs.
  • Hybrid Cars: This Web site provides access to information about different makes of hybrid cars, a buying guide, information about incentives and laws, how to improve gas mileage, and so forth.
  • State-by-State Guide to Energy Efficiency Incentive Programs: This Web site provides access to the Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency (DSIRE) which contains information searchable on a state-by-state basis on existing state, local, private, and utility programs that provide incentives for implementation of energy efficiency measures for both buildings and vehicles.
