The 302nd Airlift Wing is the largest tenant organization at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado. More than 1,200 reservists and 250 full-time personnel are assigned to the 302nd AW, one of several C-130 units located throughout the U.S. The unit has a unique and special mission of aerial firefighting with the U.S. Forest Service, known as Modular Airborne Firefighting. The wing mirrors its Active Duty counterparts by participating in exercises and inspections, while training daily for contingency operations.

Members of the 302nd AW serve proudly knowing their efforts are making a significant contribution to the Total Force approach. As Citizen Airmen serving alongside their Active Duty and Air National Guard counterparts, 302nd AW members come together in a triad to form one Air Force. The mission of the wing is to train, equip and employ airlift forces in worldwide support of the nation's vital interests.
