Lisa Goldfluss Counsel to the Inspector General

The OIG Immediate Office (IG/IO) serves the Inspector General (IG) and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) on a wide variety of matters affecting OIG and its relationship with USAID, the Department of State, and the Congress. The IO consists of Legal Counsel (LC) and Chief of Staff, as well as professional and administrative staff.

The Chief of Staff is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administrative operations of the IO and also serves as the IG’s primary officer for legislative and press matters.

Legal Counsel provides advice on legal and legislative matters; provides ethics training and counseling; ensures OIG compliance with laws governing financial disclosure requirements, the Freedom of Information and Privacy Act, prepares subpoenas for the IG’s execution; and represents OIG in adjudicatory forums.

The activities of the IO frequently cross functional and organizational lines. IO is involved in a wide variety of projects and programs with international implications. IO provides analysis, advice, and guidance on a host of issues and elements for matters that are essential to the organization’s mission, many which are complex and sensitive. IO is also responsible for legislative monitoring, congressional outreach and briefings, and preparation of responses to congressional requests. Finally, IO serves as OIG’s liaison with the press, issuing press releases and responding to press inquiries.
