The APS Engineering Support Division is looking for a mechanical engineer who will contribute to research and development of the superconducting devices associated with the APS Upgrade.   The applicant will be responsible for developing the commissioning planning and technical acceptance criteria for the superconducting undulator and superconducting radio frequency modules for the Advanced Photon Source.  Comprehensive knowledge in applied mechanics and cryogenics is required.  The applicant should have considerable experience in the use of CAD software such as ProEngineer or SolidWorks, and FEA software such as ANSYS.

The APS Engineering Support Division is looking for designers who have experience in producing mechanical (machine) designs for unique mechanical equipment or equivalent.  This includes checking and preparation of original design layouts, handbook calculations, and complete fabrication drawings for 1) electro-mechanical equipment; 2) equipment support structures; 3) piping and support systems;  and 4) special purpose machines such as accelerators.  The applicant should have at least 3-5 years experience with a full function CAD system such as Pro/E or AutoCAD.  Three-dimensional (3-D) solid CAD design experience is required.  Pro/E experience is preferred.  Some knowledge of vacuum, magnet, and radio-frequency technologies is desirable.

The APS Engineering Support Division is looking for a floor coordinator to facilitate APS user safety, operations, and related activities. The applicant will assist the APS users and experimenters as required. This includes interfacing daily with users, accelerator operations, and APS systems personnel to deliver x-ray beam to the user beamlines. Will also be responsible for monitoring and implementing operational readiness, procedures, and policy. Good experience in the operation of the R&D laboratory and related facilities is required.
