Cleary University team helps Walk for Warmth
HOWELL – A team of students and staff from Cleary University participated in the Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency’s annual Walk for Warmth at Hartland Feb. 10. The event raised $35,000 to help provide heat to those who cannot afford it.
“We wanted to help raise awareness to help our friends and neighbors heat their homes,” said Cassie Tarnowski, the team’s captain and the admissions office manager for Cleary. “We wanted to reach out to the community by becoming part of this movement.”
Cleary University has participated in the annual event since 2009 and wasa bronze sponsor of this year’s event.
Cleary team members included: Carrie Bonofiglio, director of admissions; Eric Smith, admissions representative; Austin Turner, student; Helen Budd, academic associate; Jerry Musselman, student and Rachel Daniels, student. -
Cleary's Boyle helps US team to second place finish in Jamaica
HOWELL - Sarah Boyle, the Cleary University women’s cross country coach, finished fifth overall at the recent North American, Central American, Caribbean Cross Country Championship in Jamaica.
“It was a great trip,” said Boyle, who finished the 6K race in a time of 21:51. “It was a fun event.”
Boyle’s sister, Stephanie Price, finished in tenth place overall. The U.S. women’s Team on which both Boyle and Price competed finished second overall. The race featured three divisions of runners on teams from the United States, Canada and Caribbean nations. -
Howell's Kostesich signs to play soccer at Cleary
HOWELL – James Kostesich, a senior at Howell High School, has signed a letter of intent to play for the Cleary University men’s soccer team.
"He’s a great addition to the team,” said Thomas Greeley, men’s soccer coach at Cleary Univesity.“It’s good to have another local area athlete join the program.”
"This is a great opportunity to play at the collegiate level with a new team,” said Kostesich, a defender.
Kostesich played three years of varsity soccer at Howell. He also played for the Michigan Alliance soccer team.
